The Daylight/Sunlight Analysis (addendum 7 of the Design and Access Statement with the planning application) shows simulated shadows at different times of day during the four months: December, March, June and September.
This gallery contains the images of the north stand extension on the left with the proposed stadium with the enabling development on the right. Since the north stand images are fairly close to the current stadium this gives a good comparison for how the proposed development increases shadowing.
Once you have clicked on an image, there are previous and next buttons in the lower right hand corner of the window. You can use these to flip between images, which really helps to see where the shadows are falling.
In Winter the gardens in Filton Avenue are in the stadium's shadow until late afternoon and even the rooftops (three storeys high) in Trubshaw gardens are shadowed in the afternoons. In summer most of Strathmore Road is shadowed to the rooftops in the early morning and then in the evenings the properties in Alton Road and Downend Road at the south western corner of the stadium fall into the shadow. These overshadowings are not present in the images showing the shadowing with only the North Stand expansion that was granted permission in 2005.
