This gallery shows images that were produced for the planning application and appear in the Design and Access document. They show the illustrations of the stadium as it was when granted approval with the new plans that have just been submitted.
It is clear that the changes will make this building even more prominent and visible from many locations around north Bristol.
2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
This image is the view from the top of Strathmore Road. The new design on the right is clearly much higher than the previous due to the more promenent arches truss running the length of the stadium. It is also worth noting the additional structure above the main roof line in the right hand image. This shows how the north west corner has been expanded to accommodate alterations in other parts of the stadium.

This is the view from the bottom of Alton Road south of the stadium. Again the new arched trusses are much higher and more prominent. Although the student blocks are slightly further away than they were, the south stand actually appears to be higher and close to the houses in the newer image on the right.

Above is another view directly up Alton Road.

2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
The above is the view from the corner of Downend Road and Strathmore. It is hard to tell from the illustration, but the tall wall facing the houses on the right in the right hand image is on more or less the same plane as the front of the box on the roof of the image on the left. The top front corner of that jutting out box in the left hand image is violating the daylight regulations. The wall in the right hand image is slightly further back just squeaking under the limit.

Above the view from Purdown, show the structure is even more noticeable with the higher arched trusses.

2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
The above is from the top of Wellington Hill and shows how much more visible the new trusses are.

2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
The above is the view from Filton Avenue at Dorcester Rd. The visiblity of the new plans on the right is marked.

2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
This is the view from the centre gate on Filton Avenue. Note the entrance turret in the left hand image used to be a symbolically high feature of the facade. However in the new plans you can see that the whole section of the building now reaches that heights and is no longer set back from the turret.

2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
The above is the view from Filton Avenue going south at the Muller Road traffic lights. The stadium new design trusses are once again highly visible in the right hand image. Considering this section of the building is a whole storey taller, the height difference in the images does not seem to be as great as it should be. Note also the addition of a very tall tree behind the lamp post hiding the stadium partly that is not present in older image. This image was also one of the most misleading in the previous application as errors of position and scale make things appear more favourable.

2007 (old) on left, 2008 (new) on right
Sorry this is beginning to sound like a broken record, but here we can see the new plan on the right is taller and extends further towards the viewer in the image on the right.
